Album 5
(29 June to 18 September 1996)
Macedonia wasn't such an exciting place.
Skopje is known for being ugly so I took a photo of myself...

(no-one's ugly in a reflection!)
Next was Bulgaria, where the girls are pretty amazing (in dress, for starts);

the boys are forward (because of the dress?);

and everyone loves to party

(perhaps because the economy is miserable).
Even the churches are beautiful.

(Rila Monastery)
Next it's off to Turkey, the "bridge" between Europe and Asia:
With carpet-sellers,

beautiful mosques

(interior of the Blue Mosque),

as well as parties.

That's TJ (as in Tom Jones), the sexiest man alive (according to him).
I also worked as a diver

(photo by Sandra Basic)
and had a visit from Sandra!

Of course, Turkey has Greek ruins -

good for practicing Olympic balance -
conservative dress-codes,

friendly people,

and a mysterious past at Nemrut Deg (Mt Nimrod)

and Ishak Pasa, on the boarder with Iran.

Last, but not least, was the treacherous rafting (?!?!)

whoops! I mean the rafting

Next stop: the Ex-USSR - Georgia and Armenia
(Just 21 to go!)
