Album 4
(3 March to 28 June 1996)

So - here we are in Eastern Europe.
There, they experimented with economics and came up with a few rules:

Socialism: you have two cows and you give one to your neighbor.
Communism:
you have two cows the government takes both and gives you some milk.
Fascism: you have two cows the government takes both and sells you the milk.
Nazism: you have two cows the government takes both and shoots you.
Bureaucratism: you have two cows the government takes both, shoots one, milks the other and throws the milk away.
Capitalism: you have two cows you sell one and buy a bull.

It sure was cold in Bled, Slovenia

but got warmer in Zagreb, Croatia

(Sandra and I had our first weekend together ;-)

and was beautiful in Dubrovnik

Soon - I was off to Budapest, my favorite city in E Europe
and also my favorite hostel of all time (Back Pack Guest House),
run by Attila and Edina (brother and sister)

(who are loathe to wake up some mornings)

..due to caving fatigue

or perhaps too much sex (whoops - climbing)

or eating cake at the great coffee houses (Muvesz here)

(Tanya and Steve, Ozzies, providing the entertainment)

After a long time in Budapest,
I went to Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Czech Republic.

 I can't show you those photos, since the package
with the film (and journal) was stolen from the Czech post ;-(

Next was Romania, a wild place...

where the women love bananas;

the politicians compete with kick boxers;

they have a weird way of washing windows;

the students have very small kitchens;

and no-one trusts the banks.

Of course, that's better than Serbia!

Next was Albania, with a tradition of  blood feuds and the evening "giro"

as well as trying to get to Greece

(in front of the consulate in Gyrokastra)

Next stop, Macedonia & Bulgaria!
(Just 22 to go!)
