Album 25
(14 July to 22 August 1999)
We came back to China and remembered a few reasons
that we were happy to leave: the toilets,

the crowds,

the tourist hordes in silly outfits

and the tourist scams.

(Sandra is standing next to the sign which says
"We take your picture and sent it to you.
It's worth more than you pay for it ($15)"
I took her photo for free...)
The food was worth all the trouble though.

We biked in Beijing's horrible traffic, visited the Forbidden City
and the
Summer Palace.
These places were routine. The Great Wall was amazing!

We headed east to the Gobi Desert

then south thru the Tibetan areas.

After China, we went to a more "authentic" minority area
(ie, not
exploited in endless tourist festivals) - Laos.
In fact, the minority is so big
there that they are the majority.
There you go. But one last shot, since he's so
cool.

Ya think?
Next: Last one!!
