Hi - I'm David Zetland. I divided this website into my life as an economist (Here) and as traveler (Away). I also blog at aguanomics.

Reverse Chronology

10 May 08: Leave Davis for a two-month postdoc at the Mercatus Center in Washington DC.

24 Apr 08: Filed my dissertation. I now have a PhD in economics.

03 Sep 02: Started Ph.D. Program in Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Davis.

01 Aug 00: Began work at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute (MSRI) in Berkeley after a bad dot com experience.

23 Apr 95: Traveled in 65 countries until 02 Apr 00. Very cool.

01 Aug 91: Worked and learned about "the real world" -- the hard way (evil step-father, fraudsters, AIDs, dumpster diving). The nice people were the "nuts" at the Veterans Workshops.

23 Mar 91: Went on a four-month European "Grand Tour". Became a vegan (now vegetarian), ended anorexia and gained weight.

22 Sep 87: Studied at UCLA. Received B.A. in Economics and Business in Mar 91.

14 Aug 69: Born. Grew up. Highlights included Montessori school for eight years, the EST training (twice), running a candy machine, discovering the Beastie Boys for my HS, and trying to keep an MGC and MGB running.
